Echoes of the Earth, considered one of the greenest festivals in the country, is back with its seventh edition this year. A themed symphony of the seasons, this year’s show revolves around the seasons and their role in our environment.
As always, the music series will feature artists from across the world and India and across genres performing in different areas at the venue. For this edition, each zone reflects a season as well as genre, with the Big Tree Stage for spring and the Electro Live Stage for summer, ending with winter on the World Fusion Stage and monsoon on the Electronic Stage.
Each area will be decorated to reflect its respective season and as always, in keeping with Echoes of the Earth’s sustainable practices, all decorations and props for the event are made from recycled and reused materials. All the installations have been designed keeping in mind the upcoming editions of the festival.

Among the many artists performing at this edition of Echoes is Bengaluru-based Premik Jolly, popularly known as Premtron. In his set titled Prematron Presents Seasonal Soundscapes, the artist will present an unusual set of nature sounds and field recordings, mixed with music.
A regular performer at Echoes, Premik says he and his team wanted to create something unique for the festival that would be in line with its theme. “I wanted to do something that represented the change in seasons. In India, we have harsh winters, scorching summers and gorgeous monsoons – of course, in Bangalore, you get all three in one day; Sometimes even four,” he laughs.

“We decided to gather a crowd and put out the message that we were looking for flocks of birds during the summer, bonfires during the winter, rain and storms and similar sounds that represented the change of season or change of seasons. Do. Meant for them.
The response was overwhelming, says Premik. The team received over a gigabyte of sound files that were recorded on a mobile app.
“We chose the most useful ones that were in line with the concept, and the audience would experience a live set with my synthesizer, guitar and electronic percussive instruments.”
Premick is not only excited about his sketch, “which will be really different from what I’ve done before,” but he’s also excited about his field. “It’s all going to happen under this huge, really old fig tree. There is no stage, and it feels like it blends into nature.”
“The beauty of a live set is that nothing is pre-planned; Everything is constantly evolving. The crowd is feeding off the music and I’m feeding off the energy of the audience – it’s a constant loop and the sounds are morphing into each other. There is never a moment of silence.”

Premik, who founded Threinody, one of India’s first trash metal bands, has been a busy part of the city’s electronic music scene. “I was in my early teens when I started experimenting with sounds and got into electronic music. I’m self-taught and lucky that some of my friends were DJs; I would keep my synthesizer and accompany him to his shows,” says the artist, who now teaches electronic music production.
Seasonal soundscapes will add to the festival atmosphere with nearly an hour of content.
