Eid-ul-Fitr 2025: 9 tips to deepen your mehndi

Eid-ul-Fitr is a joyful festival that marks the end of Ramadan, and for many people, applying mehndi (henna) is an essential part of ceremonies. A deep and rich mehndi stain enhances the beauty of the hands and adds to the attraction of the celebration. If you want to get a deep mehndi stain for Eid 2025, some tried and tested suggestions have been made to help you get the best results.

1. Select high quality mehndi
The quality of mehndi plays an important role in determining the intensity of its color. Always choose a pure, natural henna option without chemicals or artificial colors. Organic henna cones or fresh prepared henna pastes provide the best results.

2. Let the mehndi dry naturally
Avoid using artificial heat sources such as hair dryers to speed up the drying process. Instead, let your mehndi naturally dry for at least 6-8 hours or overnight for a deep stain.

3. Apply a sugar and lemon mixture
Once the mehndi starts drying up, gently using a cotton ball and beat the mixture of sugar and lemon juice on it. This helps the henna paste to keep moist for a long time, allowing deep penetration of color.

4. Keep the paste for a long period
Now you will maintain mehndi, the stain will be equally deep. Target to keep it for at least 6-12 hours before closing it.

5. Avoid washing hands immediately
After removing the mehndi paste, avoid washing your hands with water for at least 12-24 hours. Instead, apply mustard oil, coconut oil, or balm to seal the color.

Heat some cloves on a warm pan and expose your hands to the growing steam. Cloves help to increase heat stains, making it rich and darker.

7. Stay away from water and soap
Water can quickly fade the color of mehndi. Try to avoid washing your hands often, especially in the first 24 hours after application.

8. Apply natural oil or balm
After removing the dried paste, mustard oil, eucalyptus oil, or rubbing the Vicks balm can help accelerate the color.

9. Hanna’s stains develop over time
Mehndi stains are more than 24–48 hours deep. The initial color may appear orange, but will gradually turn into a dark brown or red color.
