Emily Blunt Teases New Project With Steven Spielberg, Recalls How She Was Surprised When She Got the Call: He’s Really Magical

Emily Blunt will star in a project from Steven Spielberg.

Emily, who was recognized for her lasting impact on the film industry, described receiving the award as a surreal moment. According to Deadline, he said, “It’s a wild thing because it’s almost like watching your life flash before your eyes.”

He said, “It’s very touching and surreal to see it all happening in front of me. And yes, it was good.” He jokingly said that he hoped the award was more a recognition of “so far, so good” than a lifetime achievement.

The actor also talked about his upcoming projects. The Smashing Machine directed by Benny Safdie is one of the most anticipated movies. In this film, Emily is playing the role of the girlfriend and later wife of UFC champion Mark Kerr alongside Dwayne Johnson.

Emily described the film as being about “struggle”, highlighting the emotional and physical hardships faced by fighters, particularly in terms of addiction and relationships. According to Deadline, he told, “It’s a very intense, very beautiful film.”

Emily also revealed a secret new project with Steven Spielberg, though she remained tight-lipped about the details. “We’ll be starting in February and that’s all I can tell you,” she revealed.

She recalled the astonishment she felt when Steven Spielberg called her for the project, saying, “I was very surprised to even get the call. And then at the meeting, he says, ‘Would you like to know that? Why are you here?’ And I said, ‘Yes please.’ According to Deadline, I was trying not to shut up and talk to her about the endless scenes of Jaws that I’ve been obsessed with for years. She’s really pretty magical.

Reflecting on her time in the industry, Emily shared that maintaining balance is important in her life. “It’s huge in my life. I need it,” she said, “but I think I’ve learned — since becoming a mom and since, I think, becoming more famous — that set But my time and that immersion has quickly become something that I’m very protective of and something I hold really dear.”

Emily also discussed the importance of getting out of your comfort zone. “It’s true escape. It’s like this parallel life that I’m so addicted to, and I need, and I love it,” she said, “I’ve learned that it’s OK to be scared all the time, you know. That when you’re going to do something new it’s good for me that I don’t want to be straight-forward.

According to Deadline, she said this mindset has made her more “bold” in choosing her roles. Emily expressed uncertainty when asked about directing, although she emphasized her enjoyment of producing.

“I don’t know about directing yet, I’m really trying to learn to never say never… I’m really enjoying making stuff, and even if I don’t get to be in it, it’s okay “I love building worlds and stories,” she explained.

She also mentioned her desire to return to the stage and said, “I think I would really love to get back to the stage at some point, it’s been 20 years or something.”

Emily also talked about the possibility of a sequel to the 2014 film ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, in which she starred alongside Tom Cruise.

“I mean, there are hints of it, but I don’t think anything has been written,” he said, “We’re always throwing ideas around. I wonder if we can beat it, or at least The least we can do is match it – because I don’t know how Doug Liman got so much profit from a repeat day, it was brilliant.”

According to Deadline, he laughed and said, “Can my back take it anymore? That’s the thing… but we’ll see.”
