Eros defends Ragjna’s AI-reflected end, Slams Anand L. Rai, Dhanush’s objections

Aeros International has broken its silence after a widespread backlash on the re-release of ‘Ranjahna’ with an AI-related alternative end. The 2013 romantic drama, originally directed by Iyanand L. Rai and starred by Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor, returned to theaters recently, including Ambikapati in Tamil, with a revised ‘Happy’ conclusion that has ested the controversy between fans and creators equally.

Director Anand L. Rai and lead actor Dhanush publicly criticized the edited version, accusing the studio of distorting the original message of the film. In response, Eros released a statement of a strong word, which was re -released, “legally obedient, transparent label, and artisticly directed”, and clarified that the original cut of ragjana is available in all platforms.

The statement said, “It does not replace or changes the original raanjhana, which is untouched and widely available … This version is an alternative editing, localized adaptation, and anniversary re -release and is part of a global and prolonged tradition in cinema to offer re -release.”

Eros claimed its special rights over the film, stating that as the only financer and manufacturer, it maintains the full ownership of IP and all affiliated moral and derivative rights under the Indian Copyright Act.

Aeros responds to Dhanush’s comments on casting

Refuting Dhanush’s recent claim that Iyanand L. Rai had financially supported his casting, the production house clarified:

“While such comments can reflect personal praise, they are factually incorrect and legally inconsistent … Eros only met the complete financial risk of the project.”

Tere Ishk Mein promoted legal stress

The statement also addressed Rai’s upcoming film ‘Tere Ishq Mein’, which he and his banners, color yellow products allegedly promoted as part of the ranjana universe. Eros rejected the claim as “misleading” and “unauthorized”, confirming that a legal notice has been issued to prevent such a situation.

“Eros has strongly objects items for illegal and misleading efforts by Mr. Anand L. Rai and Color Yellow Productions … Eros has formally issued a conflict and native notice on 25 July 2025.”

Legal Ownership and AI Use

Accepting the contribution of the original team, Eros strengthened its legal position:

“Under Indian law, producers are the legal author of a film … The separation of Mr. Rai from the Tamil alternative version is his personal choice, but his claim of ownership or moral rights on work is neither contracted nor legally applied.”

He clarified that AI was used only as an accessory, not as an autonomous material manufacturer, and that the project was played by a human creative team.

AI is not a smokscreen, Aeros says

Dismissing speculation that the re-edit was a twist from other issues, Eros said, “We clearly reject the suggestion that this creative initiative is a ‘strategic distraction’ … On the contrary, we urge the public and industry stakeholders to see through a coordinated and intentional time-bound campaign.”
