Mumbai: Siddhant Karnik, who gave a tough competition to Ranbir Kapoor by playing Varun Sharma’s ‘brother-in-law’ in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal, is currently struggling to get good work. He has always proved his worth as an actor and Animal is the latest example of this. Exclusive Interview with Zee News, Siddhanth has never spoken his heart out before. The actor is still waiting for a good opportunity and confesses that he is finding it difficult to get good work despite being a part of several hit films from Animal to Adipurush.
Siddhant Karnick spoke his heart out and talked about the tough phase of being an actor who is looking for good opportunities. “It is extremely difficult, the field we are in doesn’t pay, even after being a part of such a big film, Animal was such a big hit and I thought I would finally get more work after this, but it didn’t happen, producers didn’t line up to sign me, I was even happy to go to their offices for work, but nothing happened. So it is a very challenging thing, this career is not for the faint hearted. It is a testament to one’s resilience and hunger.”
When asked if Animal has proved to be a gamechanger for actress Tripti Dimri, she said, “Even after six months, Animal has not proved to be a gamechanger for me, I did not get any more commercial films, and it was believed that when you do a hit film, you get more work, but that did not happen in my case. The positive outcome is that I am hungry for more work, I am not venting, but I know I have a lot more to give.” She explained, “I am not satisfied, I am hungry, I have a lot more to give. I am grateful for whatever I have, the universe has given me an opportunity, but yes I am hungry and wanting more work.”
Siddhanth who has been in the industry for over 20 years insists that he is not satisfied as an actor and wants to take up more challenging roles, “I became an actor to get good work, not for fame. I have always been consistent with my theatre career, I keep my craft alive with theatre and I constantly practise and don’t wait for an opportunity and then work on my craft, I have analysed fate and this is an opportunity to prepare for me, isn’t it.”
He further added, “I want to do transformative roles because I can do them physically now, so I want to transfer that into the universe, among directors I am the one who is waiting for the opportunity.”
When asked what is stopping him, is it a filmy surname or a godfather, he said, “I don’t know what is stopping me, it would have been easier for me if I had a godfather or even a sugar daddy in the industry but I don’t have one and this is what I have chosen. I am here because of my family as they have constantly encouraged me, given me a shoulder to cry on when I couldn’t clear auditions or win any awards, maybe I wasn’t born in a filmy family but I am grateful for where I was born. Also adding that it is the outsiders who have made this industry what it is and I don’t say anything against nepotism.”
The principle is to take things one day at a time and be willing to wait for good opportunities.
