Exclusive: “Anurag Kashyap is a genius, he can say anything,” says black warrant Actor Rahul Bhatt on his “quitting Mumbai” comment

Rahul Bhatt plays DSP Rajesh Tomar in Vikramaditya Motwane and Satyanshu Singh’s Netflix original black warrantThis series is based on the book of the same name by Sunetra Chaudhary and Sunil Gupta. The series received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Rahul Bhatt’s character is fictional in the series based on the ground reality of Tihar jails, in which almost all the characters are out of real life.

In an exclusive interview with ndtvRahul tells how he prepared for the role of DSP Rajesh Tomar.

“Since it’s a fictional character, I had no constraints. I wanted to make it quirky; add layers. In fact, I didn’t want to play a regular officer with short hair, bad temper – predictable traits. ..I wanted to do this it’s unexpected, Funny (interesting). I think, my message reached the audience,” says Rahul Bhatt. ndtv,

Author Sunetra Chaudhary and former Tihar jailer Sunil Gupta, on whom the book is based, praised the series, and even said that the screen adaptation was better than the book.

When we asked Rahul to share his views on the comment, he told ndtv“Genius people never shout and brag about their talent. They always give credit to others. If they had not written such a brilliant book, the series would not have happened. So, the credit goes to them.”

Rahul Bhatt, who is known for his brilliant roles in films ugly (2013), again (2022), and Kennedy (2023), gives much of the credit for his career to director Anurag Kashyap. ugly Came after rest; And Kennedy Premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

So, what is so special about Kashyap?

Rahul Bhatt replies, “I want him to cast me more and more. This is when the relationship between an actor and a director develops naturally. Recently, Kashyap made headlines when he said that he was “disgusted” with the Hindi film industry and that he wanted to relocate to the South.

Does Rahul Bhatt support Anurag Kashyap’s idea? “It’s called Kashyap-ism,” comes the immediate reply.

“He is Anurag Kashyap. He is a talented person. He has the right to say anything he feels. I don’t think I am in a position to comment on his comments. I would not say that the comments are good, bad. Are they or are they ugly? ,” says Rahul Bhatt.

“But, from the bottom of my heart, I feel, we make bad films with big stars. Big stars deserve good films. And every industry goes through bad times at some point. It’s like a cycle If there is a recession now, a good time is coming,” shares Rahul Bhatt on the ongoing debate on Hindi vs South films.
