Lisa Mishra, a singer, a lyricist -turned actress is known for her repetition version of Song Tarifan in the 2018 Indian film Veere Di Wedding. She made her debut with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions with a series Call Me Baa (2024). In a special chat with Zee News Digital, Lisa revealed her role in the recently released series ‘The Royals’, which featured Zeenat Aman, Ishan Khat and Bhumi Pednekar among other interesting anecdotes.
Q. What happened to act with music?
One. I think I was the easiest way to describe it was a born entertainment. I loved, singing as a child. I loved to put in voices and accents and to be foolish around my parents and my friends. I have always done this because I was very low. So most people, I don’t think people who have grown up with me are surprised that I went to acting for music because I have always been an artist when I was three years old, and it’s just a matter of time. What happened to me, just wanted to do even more as a creative. I think people who are creators, we are tireless in our journey of creation. So we cannot be asked to do just one thing. And I really like to act on screen for my music video, so I wanted to take a challenge long format.
Q. Share your experience of working in ‘The Royals’.
One. My experience working with Royals was that it was a dream. We were shooting in live places and real palaces throughout the time. I was on the set with some of the best actors in the industry, Bhumi Pednekar, Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Ishaan Khattar, and, you know, some of the biggest names of entertainment, such as Nora Fatehi, Dino and Chunky Pandey. And it was just such a vivid and beautiful journey. For example, all my memories are still very vivid from this time because it was only a year ago. But really experience a dream.
Q, from Veere de marriage to royals, did you see any change?
One. Absolutely. I think the biggest change has been in itself. I think when I came here, I did not know anything about the industry. I had no idea how everything works in Bollywood because it happened to me all night, you know, the versatility of that video. And I think the biggest thing that has changed is to decide my decision as an artist.
I have to be careful about whether this song is right now or this acting is the right choice. So, yes, I think I have grown up now. That is all. I think my decisions are more sound. I am more measured in my stages.
Q. Your favorite Indian and global musicians.
One. My favorite Indian musician is Arijit Singh, without any doubt. And my favorite global musicians are probably coldplays and beeons.
Q. Share your favorite cololebes in recent times.
One. I think the most interesting collab, I love this beautiful song by Arijit Singh and Martin Garrick called Wetles. This is probably the strongest Indian and English crossover that I have ever heard of. And I hope to make more songs like this.
Q. What are my future acting projects?
One. Right now I am focusing on the second season of Call MeB and hopefully if the directors and manufacturers have seen Royals, they thought that I did justice to my character Nikki, I would soon hear more calls.
Q. What did you like the most from Gala 2025?
One. Without a doubt Diljit Dosanjh, I think he closed the theme and he actually made the subject as an ownership to represent Punjab. He really wore a map of Punjab back on his cape. I am so proud of him. He does everything. For me, he is authentically Punjabi and authentically Indian even if it is in the world. I think we all should learn from him.
