Mumbai: Meiyang Chang became a star overnight after his sensational debut in Indian Idol in 2007. Chang, a singer turned host and then actor, has been in the industry for almost 17 years and is working hard in his field. Chang will be next seen in Ulj starring Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role. Ahead of the film’s release, Chang had an exclusive conversation with Zee News and spoke his heart out. Talking about his film Ulj in an exclusive conversation with Zee News, he said that it is not a typical Pakistani film.
“Ulaaj is something I have never done before. And it feels great to be back, especially with a theatrical release. I love the theatre experience and I personally love watching films in theatres that appeal to me.”
Chang added, “When the first poster was released, there were a lot of comments that this film would be one of those films that defame Pakistanis and I was so glad that people were so wrong. The film is much more than just that, we often see soldiers and spies on the ground fighting for the country, but Uljh shows an unseen side and it is very important to show that.
Talking about work opportunities in the industry, Chang revealed, “I just want to do better work, yes, there has been a dry spell and a bad spell. Sometimes you get a lot of choices, which may not work out. I always wanted to do more in my acting career, and people have been very supportive of me. I’m getting good work, and in a position where I can communicate the intensity and impact of my roles.”
The actor revealed that he is getting work that he never imagined, “Of course I am getting offers every day, I am getting good work but of course I have a lot of potential and I am looking forward to doing something that I personally enjoy. Acting-wise the offers have been less but it has definitely been better. I have got roles that I thought I would never be offered and Asur is one of them,” the actor concluded.
