Actress Nyara Banerjee or Neerra M Banerjee has acted in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages films with acting in the popular TV shows. The supernatural drama series Divya Drishati, her tenure in Naagin, followed by Fear Factor: Khatran’s Khiladi 13 and Bigg Boss 18 made her a domestic name. In an interview with Zee News Digital, Neerra opened to work for Bollywood in the South film industry and more:
Q. Your Bigg Boss 18 Stint was brief. How was the experience of living in a house cut-off from the outside world?
Well, it was quite interesting and attractive to be honest. I found a new way to connect with my fans and fans and it was very fun. It also opened many new doors of opportunities for me and I am very grateful to Salman sir, show and everyone, which is to give me a platform for that. It was brief, but was full of fun and I embraced every bit in my professional journey.
Q. How different was it from Khili 13 of Khatran?
Well, quite different. The two are completely different from each other in terms of show format. Apart from the fact, there is nothing common between the two that they are reality shows. Bigg Boss is more about mental strength that I would say that there are pieces of both bits and mental and physical strength involved in the Khatran. Both shows have their originality and attraction that I would say.
Q. Your on-screen vamp image was liked by fans in Divya Drashti, Pishchini and Naagin. Are you keen to follow the same pattern in other shows or do you already want to break the stereotype?
Well, even when these shows came in my way and I decided to do them, there was no pattern that I was following. I was fascinated by the idea of being part of a supernatural show to detect a different world than just reality. In addition, historically in India, many supernatural shows have done well and I am thankful to God that my show also did well. Saying that, there is actually no pattern. It all depends on what I am seeing as an artist when things come in my way. But yes, as an actor, you want to do many things and want to play different roles and I would say that it is not different for me.
Q. What do you have to say about payments in TV industry?
I don’t think I should comment about anyone else. I can only talk about myself. I think I have always got whatever I am entitled in the context of advertisements in different stages of my career and that is why, I am always grateful to manufacturers and all those working with me, who work with me to give me the reason. I have nothing to say on this because I have always found what I was entitled.
Q. You have done some South films including Puri Jagannadh’s nature. Are you planning to return to films or web-series in future?
Well, the world of acting is a temporary medium. It is never about going back to OTT or films or TV. I can do 2 new web series and can do a TV show again or vice versa. As artists, we are doing everything we like and it is the most beautiful part of this profession. I will say I am blessed to be that medium. But yes, Neeraj Pandey’s Khake: Bengal chapter did a good job and I got a lot of love and praise for him. Therefore, I would prefer to continue speed and good work in OTT and film space. But as an artist, I am always open to different mediums. This is never for one medium and yes for another. I want to do everything.
Q. How was the experience of working in South films. How different is it from TV or Bollywood?
Well, in the context of professionalism and the way they treat people with respect, it is no different in both industries. Both industries have some amazing people who actually give importance to talent and good work. So to be honest, apart from language, I did not find any major difference between the two industries.
Q. Whenever you are in love, do you plan to make Instagram an officer or keep it ‘Hash-Hash’?
Well, I am a private person but not secret. If something like this is happening in my life and people get to know, then I will not make extra effort in wrapping it. But at the same time, this is my personal life and therefore I will not announce anything about this especially on social media. Lets see how it goes.
