Shah Rukh Khan has once again made India proud. The megastar has become the first Indian to receive the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera award at the Locarno Film Festival. The actor jetted off to Switzerland to receive the honour at the 77th edition of the film festival. Yes, the same country where he has shot his iconic films Fear And hearted will take the brideShah Rukh Khan spoke to NDTV’s Abeera Dhar Rao during the festival. Sharing his experience at the beautiful location, he said, “It’s very nice. It’s a bit warmer here than when I am here. Usually, it’s very cool and nice.”
When asked about his fondest memory in Switzerland, Shah Rukh Khan recalled, “Coming here, working with Mr Yash Chopra and everything we did – it was really great. We started working here in the late 90s…(it) was a big deal to come to Switzerland. And now, when I come here after so many years, people remember those films.”

Shah Rukh Khan also revealed that he is “very happy” to be at the Locarno Film Festival. “I love the spontaneity of this place, the dignity with which they conduct the award ceremony, I am very happy to be here,” he said.
Ahead of the awards ceremony, Locarno Film Festival shared a black and white picture of Shah Rukh Khan on its official Instagram page. In the picture, the actor is wearing a black blazer and matching trousers. A wrist watch and a pendant necklace completed his look. The picture read, “Shahrukh Khan arrives at the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival to accept the Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism. As soon as he arrived, Pardo sat down with Shah Rukh Khan for a unique photoshoot.”
Founded in 1946, the Locarno Film Festival is one of the oldest annual film festivals in the world. This year it will screen 225 films, including 104 world premieres and 15 debuts.
