Mumbai: Janhvi Kapoor is proving to be one of the best actresses in the industry and recently she has also worked in director Sudhanshu Saria’s film ‘Uljh’. Before the release of the film, the filmmaker spoke openly to Zee News and told how he was not very confident about casting Janhvi as the leading lady in the film.
Earlier we asked Saria if Janhvi was always his first choice for Ulaj to which he said, “Actually when we started the casting process, I couldn’t imagine anyone to play the role of Suhana Bhatia, it was very strange to imagine someone, it was Janhvi who chose it herself, she made my job very easy, she came with a firm clarity and passion. The dedication and determination she came with was very impressive. She agreed to every condition and process method. And it became very easy and I felt like I found my Suhana.”
When Sudhanshu was asked about his skepticism about casting Janhvi, he replied in the affirmative and explained, “Of course, I was extremely skeptical about casting Janhvi and myself because I am someone who operates from a place of extreme insecurity. If I had known that I knew how to make Ulj I would not have signed it in the first place. First of all I am a very unusual director for Junglee because it is such a big budget. So I think they got the ball rolling by taking the subject forward and hiring me. So yes I was extremely skeptical about Janhvi as well as myself and that fear made both of us work ten times harder than expected.”
Sudhanshu spoke about how Janhvi surprised him on many levels, and he can’t wait for the audience to see her shine in this never seen before avatar, “Janhvi and I are the perfect pair because neither of us ever thinks, ‘Oh this will happen’. Because we both think this is impossible, people will make fun. Janhvi surprised me on many levels and I wouldn’t want to talk about her acting because I want the audience to see it on the big screen. The tenacity she has, she doesn’t get tired, so I kept motivating her. She has a bit of perfectionism. Some people get frustrated with that and she didn’t and that’s very interesting”, he concluded.
Ulj will release on August 1, 2024 and also stars Gulshan Devaiah in a pivotal role.
