TeaAbla maestro Zakir Hussain died in a San Francisco hospital, his family said on Monday (December 16, 2024). According to his family, Hussain died due to complications arising from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was 73 years old. He was hospitalized for the last two weeks and was later taken to the ICU when his condition deteriorated.
Hussain has received four Grammy Awards in his career, including three at the 66th Grammy Awards earlier this year.
In his career spanning six decades, the musician worked with many renowned international and Indian artists, but most notably English guitarist John McLaughlin, violinist L. was his 1973 musical project with Shankar and percussionist TH ‘Vikku’ Vinayakram, which brought together Indian classical elements. of jazz in a fusion that was unknown until now.
