‘Fateh’ movie review: Sonu Sood sets out to shoot this stylish but empty action film

in the beginning Fateh When Sonu Sood, dressed in a sharp black suit, enters a big room full of arrogant goons, he is told that there is no room for him inside. This 120-minute gore becomes a metaphor for an honest actor’s struggle to make his mark as a solo hero. Sonu has a powerful voice and the ability to rule the big screen. However, in flexing his muscles and serving his off-screen image of a savior (during the pandemic), Sonu, who triples as an actor, producer and director, has bitten off more than he can chew.

Cinematographer Vincenzo Condorelli and action directors Lee Whittaker and RP Yadav work together to create the perfect pitch for a spectacular action drama. But after promising to pursue renewed interest in the classic action genre along the lines of Animal And Strike, This adults-only film gets stuck in a painful pattern, where the plot refuses to thicken and the emotions don’t rise enough to turn the theater into a slaughterhouse.

The Korean rawness of the action is impressive but when the story and performances become half-baked, blood on the floor becomes a liability. Although the film is based on the difference between a drop of tomato ketchup and a splatter of blood, it doesn’t create such a storm that it comes across as more than just an editing gimmick.

Fateh (Hindi)

director:Sonu Sood

mold: Sonu Sood, Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, Dibyendu Bhattacharya

Order: 127 minutes

Story: An undercover agent returns to action to take down a cybercrime syndicate

After Fateh Singh forcibly enters the room, the story moves to Sonu’s hometown Moga, where the intrepid intelligence agent lives in the guise of a dairy supervisor. When a village girl Nimrat (Shiv Jyoti Rajput) becomes a victim of a cyber crime network, Fateh is forced to return to action and take on the cyber mafia led by Raza, played by the stoic Naseeruddin Shah. Is. It seems like the veteran actor has taken this project as a friendly role. In the climax he comes wearing slippers. Casual approach eliminates competition. The writing does not help their cause because the experienced person is prone to clichés dialogue play,

In an attempt to present Sonu as a one-man army, every other character has been pushed to the background. Experienced professionals like Vijay Raj and Dibyendu Bhattacharya are troubled due to weak character. It seems like the writers, where again Sonu plays the role, are in a hurry to create opportunities for Fateh to bash the villains. The only interest for gore fans is the entry and exit points of knives and other such sharp weapons. By the second half, it seems the action team has run out of ideas and just copies them old boy– Inspired by Corridor Massacre Animal And Sonu made Mithun Chakraborty wear his coat. The good thing in this Sonu saga is that Jacqueline Fernandez is only there to provide technical support and largely sticks to English to express herself.

Fateh is currently running in theaters
