Johnny Vactor in a scene from ‘General Hospital’
Former General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor was shot and killed as he tried to stop thieves trying to steal the catalytic converter from his car in Los Angeles, his family said Sunday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting happened around 3 a.m. Saturday when the victim approached three people in downtown Los Angeles.

His mother, Scarlett Vactor, said, ABC On Feb. 7, her 37-year-old son said he was leaving work at a rooftop bar with a co-worker when he noticed someone standing near his car and thought it was being towed. His mother said a masked suspect opened fire.
Police said three suspects fled the scene. Vactor was taken to a hospital, where he died. No arrests had been made as of late Sunday night.
Vactor’s agent David Shaul said the actor was “a true moral example to all who knew him.” “Through the ups and downs of a challenging profession he always kept his courage and strived to be the best he could be. Our time with Jonny was a privilege we all wished we had. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After more than a decade together, he will forever leave a hole in our hearts,” Shaul said in a statement.
Vactor played Brando Corbin ABC soap opera from 2020 to 2022. He has also appeared in a variety of movies and TV series, including Station 19, The NCIS, done by and video games Call of Duty: Vanguard.
