Four suspects arrested in investigation into death of General Hospital actor Johnny Vater

WASHINGTON: Four men have been arrested in connection with the death of actor Johnny Wactor, best known for his role as Brando Corbin on the soap opera ‘General Hospital.’

The announcement was made by Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón on Monday, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Vactor, 37, was tragically killed on May 25 after he was shot while walking to his car after his shift as a bartender in Los Angeles.

Reports obtained by The Hollywood Reporter reveal that the actor confronted the suspects when they were allegedly attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle.

The four suspects have been identified as 18-year-old Robert Barcelue, Leonel Gutierrez, Sergio Estrada, and 22-year-old Frank Olano.

He was arrested on Thursday and now the charges against him have been officially announced.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Barcelou is charged with murder, including a special circumstance allegation of murder during a robbery, as well as attempted robbery and grand larceny.
If convicted, he faces up to life in prison and is currently in jail without bail.

Estrada is charged with murder (without special circumstances), attempted robbery and grand larceny.

Gutierrez is charged with attempted robbery and grand theft by embezzlement, while Olano is charged with being an accomplice to burglary and receiving stolen property.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, all four suspects are accused of being armed with guns during the incident.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed her gratitude for the LAPD’s efforts in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I want to thank the LAPD for their work and partnership during the investigation, and for their continued efforts to keep Angelenos safe and bring justice to victims of violence. We must continue to take aggressive action to make our city safer. Those who commit crimes must be held fully accountable for their actions.”
