Chasing a target of 177, South Africa got off to a poor start, with Bumrah dismissing Reeza Hendricks while Arshdeep had skipper Aiden Markram caught. But Tristan Stubbs and Quinton de Kock hit back at India, with Heinrich Klaasen also performing well.

With the help of a six by Klaasen on extra cover off Kuldeep Yadav, the Proteas crossed the 100-run mark in 11.3 overs.

Miller eased the pressure but Pandya came in and took the crucial wicket of Klaasen for India who made 52 off 27 balls. Pandya’s over, however, gave India some relief as they did not hit any boundaries, leaving them with 22 runs to defend from the final three overs.

Johnson was clean bowled by Bumrah and the Proteas needed 16 runs from the final six balls. Hardik came in to bowl the final over and took the big wicket of Miller, for which Suryakumar Yadav took a brilliant catch near the boundary. Eventually, Rabada was also dismissed, leaving South Africa at just 169/8 and India won this thrilling match by 7 runs.
