From Millongo to mainstream, Kruti Gandhi Sarda’s Tango Story

With his signature mixture of music, connection and cultural depth, Kruti Gandhi Sarda is leading a new wave of Indian talent on the Global Tango stage. A prominent person in the Tango community of India, Kruti’s success is as an inspiration for dancers across the country and re -confirming the location of India in the developed story of Western dance. She recently made history by becoming the first Indian to win an award in Indonesia Tango Championship Preliminaries 2025 – Buenos Aires, an official qualifier for the World Tango Championship in Argentina.

Kruti finished third in the Social Tango category, a specific challenging partition where partners are switched to the partners after each song and all the performances are fully improved. His achievement is a significant success for India on the International Tango stage.

Cruti’s trip with Tango began in 2015, where he learned during a two -month visit to Europe. Once she returned to Mumbai, a city where Tango was almost negligible, started teaching everything she had learned. This is the origin of Abrajo Tango, which is a tango school established by him. “It has been an incredible journey of exploration and development,” Cruti says, who started with just six students, both went to compete in the Indonesia Tango Championship in Bali.

Kruti teaches and performs in the country and abroad, including students from amateurs to Bollywood actors. “Earlier, while Cruti held regular tango classes in IIT Mumbai, she now takes classes with Ajinkya Deshpande on Saturday. Tango, in India, is Ala and Kruti had its own part of the upheaval. For this reason, she is actively working to expand the Tango community in India – a challenging journey that demands constant learning, creativity and adaptability. He believes that India has a vibrant and vast tango scene. His goal is to share Tango’s magic with more and more people and build a strong, auxiliary dance culture. “Every new dancer, who falls in love with Tango, brings us a step closer. It is not only about dance, but about connection, expression and making something meaningful together.”
