Favad Khan and Vanni Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘Abir Gulal’ has recently found itself at the center of controversy after the Pahalgam terror attack which shook the nation. The Indian film industry is allegedly looking fresh to boycott and ban Pakistani artists, allegedly with 28 security personnel in the April 22 attack in Kashmir in Kashmir.
According to news agency ANI, the leadership of the Film Federation of India led by the Film Federation of India voiced its opposition, issued a strong statement, general secretary of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), a strong statement that calls for a complete ban on Pakistani actors and technicians in India.
“Since this is a matter of national interest, the nation comes first. Continuous attacks on our tourists in Pahalgam are embarrassing,” Ashok told ANI.

He further confirmed that FWIC has issued a press release warning its members that there would be disciplinary action with any cooperation with Pakistani artists, including potential industry-wide blacklists.
“We have again issued a press release stating that if one of our members is found working with Pakistani artists or technicians, we will take action against them and stop working with them.”
Dubey said that the official letters have been sent to all FWICE-affiliated associations. He also shared that a formal request has been made from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I & B), urging the government to issue a notification that considers such cooperations as the acts of treason.
He said, “We are writing letters to all the associations affiliated to us. If someone is found to be engaged in such activities again, they will not be allowed to work in the industry,” he said.

Abir Gulal Screening in India
Reports also show that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is considering banning the screening of ‘Abir Gulal’ in India due to the participation of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. The film was ready to return to Fawd in Bollywood after nine years – his last presence was in Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mukkil’ (2016).
FWIC has allegedly sent a letter to Vivek Aggarwal, the producer of Abir Gulal, who is strongly advised against the release of the film. Dubi insisted that FWIC will stop cooperation with every crew member if the release moves forward.
“The film Abir Gulal was designed for release on 9th. The producer, the producer, sent a letter to us. We also wrote to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. We made it clear that you cannot work with Pakistani artists. If you release this film, will we support cooperation with every unit member – is it a camera or director.”
Pakistani actors were first banned from working in the Indian film industry after the 2016 URI attack. Abir Gulal disputes rely on debate on active cooperation across the border amidst the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
