The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have raised strong objections to include actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh in the star cast of ‘Border 2’ directed by Anurag Singh. The sequel to JP Dutta’s prestigious 1997 war drama included Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, Ahaan Shetty and Diljit in the lead roles.
JP Dutta and Neel Dutta’s JP Films, in collaboration with ‘Border 2’, supported by Bhushan Kumar of T-series and Krishna Kumar, is scheduled for a dramatic release on 23 January 2026.
Diljit Dosanj’s casting in Seema 2 disappointed
However, FWICE has voiced serious concerns in an official letter addressed to Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi, and director Anurag Singh. “Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWIC), representing the main workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is depressed and concerned deeply with the casting of actor-singer Mr. Diljit Dosanjh in his upcoming film Border 2, produced under the banner of films with T-Series and is directed by Mr. Anarrag Singh.”
Calling the verdict a “clear violation” of its earlier instructions, FWIC recently pointed out cooperation with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardar G3. The Federation had previously issued a boycott of Diljit, which he called the “inconsistency Act”.
The letter states that by choosing to cooperate with an artist, which has ignored the ongoing tension and national sentiments so much, your production has directly reduced the stand taken in solidarity by the Indian film industry to solidarity with the nation.
FWICE stand on casting of Pakistani celebs
FWICE has repeatedly reiterated its zero-tolerance trend, which is towards professional partnership with Pakistani citizens in entertainment, which is looking at the unstable border situation.
“FWICE has time and has clarified its position again-we will not accept or tolerate any cooperation or cooperation with Pakistani artists in any form or on any stage. Such tasks are an exponential for the sacrifices made by our armed forces and citizens that continue to face the consequences of cross-border hostilities and terrorism,” reads further.
The organization cast Dosanj in a film, which aims to pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.
“It not only defeats the spirit of the film, but also sends a disappointing message to every Indian,” FWICE wrote. “It is disturbing that a film like ‘Border 2’, which is about to respect the valor and sacrifice of Indian soldiers, has attached a person who has recently selected to prioritize personal gain on national honor by joining talent with a hostile nation.”
The FWICE urged producers to reconsider their decisions, concluding the letter with direct appeal for patriotism and solidarity.
“We request you to reconsider your casting decision immediately. Fwice urges you to stand with the collective stand of the nation and industry. Let us repeat-for our, the nation comes first, and we expect the same unwavering commitment from each respected member of the film fraternity.”
Sardar G3 controversy
A few days ago, on 23 June, FWICE publicly condemned Diljit Dosanj, along with Ganbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu and Director Amar Hundy, to bring Hania Aamir to the Board Sardar G3.
The FWICE has also requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to withdraw certification for Sardar G3 due to the presence of a Pakistani actor among the actors.
The controversy gained more speed in view of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and subsequent operation vermilion on 22 April in Pakistan on 7 May in Pakistan and Indian forces in Poke. After these incidents, many Pakistani celebrities including Hania Aamir have seen their social media reach in India.
Amidst this political storm, Diljit Dosanj released a trailer of Sardar G3 on his Instagram, which announced that the film would be specially released in international markets on 27 June.
