Dos to follow
1. Choose the right idol
Opt for an environmentally friendly statue made of soil or natural materials to honor both tradition and environment. The size should suit the space of your home, ensuring that the idol is kept respectfully.
2. Clean and clean the space
Before bringing Ganpati Bappa home, clean the specified place for your home and idol. Decorate the area with flowers, rangoli and lights to create an auspicious atmosphere.
3. Right time (auspicious time)
According to Hindu tradition, the idol should be installed during auspicious time. In 2025, Ganesh Chaturthi begins on August 28, and consulting a local priest for an exact time will increase the positivity of the ritual.
4. Perform Ganesh Stopana properly
For maximum spiritual benefits, keep a statue facing east or north. Use a clean wooden platform wrapped with red or yellow fabric and decorate it with fresh flowers and Durava grass.
5. Offer sattvik bhog
Prepare and introduce modak, laddus, fruits and other sattvic foods. Modak is considered to be the favorite dessert of Lord Ganesha, very important during worship.
6. Daily Aarti and Bhajan
Perform morning and evening artis with devotion. Chant mantras like “Om Ganapati Namah” and sing hymns to fill their home with divine energy.
7. Maintain positivity and devotion
Keep the environment cheerful and devotion. Celebrate the messages of unity and peace with family, friends and community.
Not to escape
1. Avoid inauspicious materials
Do not use sculptures made of harmful chemicals or plaster of Paris (pop) as they damage the environment when drowned.
2. Do not keep the idol randomly
Avoid placing the idol directly on the floor or near washroom and corners. It should always be placed on a clean platform in a respectable position.
3. Avoid non-vegetarian food and alcohol
During Ganesh Chaturthi, non-vegetarian food and alcohol avoids consumption, as the festival says for purity and devotion.
4. Don’t forget daily rituals
It is considered derogatory to leave daily worship, artis, or offerings. Once you bring Ganapati home, ensure stability in devotion until Vizzan.
5. Do not do Natali Visarjan
Immersion should be done with devotion and not in a hurry. Eco-friendly immersion, such as drowning in a water tank or artificial pond, is better to protect nature.
6. Avoid negative emotions
Stay away from logic, anger or negativity in the house. The presence of Ganapati is believed to be considered to bring peace and happiness, so it is necessary to maintain harmony.
