Geeta Basra opens about leaving Bollywood: I lost in four films because …

Former actress Geeta Basra opened her decision to move away from the film industry. While reflecting her journey, the actress highlighted the challenges faced by an outsider in Bollywood, showing that the absence of a strong backing gave rise to lapse opportunities including four major film projects.

In a recent conversation with IANS, Basra talked about the early phase of her Bollywood journey, revealing how the prevailing mentality at that time impressed her career. She shared that soon after meeting her husband, cricketer Harbhajan Singh, perceptions in the industry suddenly moved.

Producer and filmmakers, influenced by orthodox thinking, admitted that she was leading to marriage and began to remove her from potential projects.

When her decision was asked about her decision to move away from the film industry, Geeta Basra explained that when she met Harbhajan, she started her career only and was still getting ready for Bollywood and life in India.

“In fact, when I met the BJP, I had just started my career. I was new to India and the industry. Then, the mindset was very different – you could not publicly seen or connected with a man. It was not just the audience; even manufacturers, directors, and even I had lost four films, because I did not do. Today, no one is married or children.

When Harbajan ever encouraged Geeta Basra to return to films after marriage, the cricketer shared that the decision was completely her. He emphasized that he never expected him and respected his choice. Harbhajan said, “Whenever he had the option to make in life, I always stood by him and supported it. But after all, everything is according to God’s plan – where, where, where, and how much we can do, it is all for him. My work encourages him like a column and whatever he encourages him to do.

Geeta Basra has made her mark in Bollywood for years through a series of film shows.

He was recognized for his performance in films like “Dil Diya Hai,” “The Train,” “District Ghaziabad,” and “Mr. Joe B. Karwalho”. In 2016, he was also seen in the Punjabi film “Lock”.
