The Maharashtra government has requested the central government to re -investigate the Marathi film. Khalid’s Shivaji And stopped its release, following complaints alleging incorrect depiction of history by right -wing organizations. The Congress has criticized the government, called it a ridiculous and condemnable effort to reduce the huge height of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj “. The film was officially released at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Citing historical texts, Congress leader Sachin Sawant said, “Why can’t the heroes of Maharaj Khalid be? BJP is so upset if Muslims identify the values of Shivaji Maharaj? Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was A. Sandy king ,A king of people – not the ruler of any one community. ,

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Ashish Sheller said that the government would not tolerate the distortion of history. The controversy increased after the protesters recently raised slogans against the film during a state ceremony.

“The government has taken a serious note of complaints received about the film. There is a demand to ban the film. CBFC comes under the jurisdiction of the Central Government. We want to check how the film got the censor board certification – if the committee studied the film properly. We also want to know that all this is a misunderstanding for the film.”

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Dr. Kiran Kulkarni has written to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to prevent the release of the film.

According to a publicly available trailer, the film depicts a school child named Khalid, who takes inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Congress targeted BJP

“It is completely unbalanced about the state government to request the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to stop the release of the film. Khalid’s ShivajiOnly on the basis of its trailer – which, especially, is not especially objectionable – and without any real understanding of the actual content of the film. The move clearly seems to be clearly inspired by the pressure of right -wing organizations and is formed with the BJP’s divisive political ideology. Once again, it becomes clear that the BJP is with the intention of portraying Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as an icon completely. Hindutva – A narrow, bigotted and conservative image that is factually incorrect – instead as a symbol Manvatvad [Humanism]It is a ridiculous and condemnable effort that is an attempt to reduce the huge height of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and to reduce a complete dissatisfaction for progressive, inclusive ideology due to his life and heritage, ”said Mr. Sawant.

“If every film is to be examined under the microscope of historical accuracy, then how did the films like it Kashmir files, Story of KeralaAnd many other promotional films – most of which said that they were imaginary and had very little similarity with historical facts – get withdrawal in the last 11 years? One of them was also given the National Award. For the film Khalid’s Shivaji, while we cannot know the intention of the filmmaker, it is a well -written historical fact that Muslims were an integral part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army. His personal bodyguard was a Muslim, “he said.

Citing historical contexts about some dialogues in the film, he said, “Regarding the mosque at Raigad Fort, historical references are reliable and well -written: in New history of Marathas – section 1 Eminent historian and Padma Bhushan Awardee by GS Sardesai (also known Riyasatkar), It is clearly stated on pages 264-265 that Shivaji Maharaj built a mosque for his Muslim soldiers. Similarly, in Rayagadachi jivanakatha [The Life Story of Raigad]Written by the famous historian Shantaram Vishnu Avalaskar and published in 1962 by the literature and culture of the state of Maharashtra, it is recorded on page seven that a mosque was actually built on the Rayagad Fort under Shivaji’s rule. The board has publicly taken full responsibility for the authenticity of this research. The mosque is also referred to in the writing of Prem Hanvet. In addtion to this Chhatrapati Shivaji MaharajIn 1907, the first biography of Shivaji was written by Krishnaji Keluskar, it is clearly confirmed that Shivaji Maharaj retained secular values and ensured that neither Muslim themes nor his places of worship were ever damaged in his kingdom.

Thus, the historical reference to the mosque is not an anecdot or fringe-it is well-supported by the Maharashtra government, including well-supported work, colleague-review scholarship.
