Govinda, a politician of actor-royalty, visited the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
The actor prayed at the revered temple and expressed his happiness after performing the necessary rituals.
Govinda donated a yellow kurta for his journey. He poured water on the idol of Nandi (Shiva’s bull), a common ritual performed by Lord Shiva devotees.
Earlier this month, Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal visited the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, where he attended the Divya Bhasma Aarti.
The actor prayed at the revered temple and expressed his happiness to see the sacred ritual.
Rampal dressed in a white shirt was later presented with a black stole Mahakal In Golden Embroidery, a traditional token of reverence in the temple.
While reflecting his experience, the actor shared, “This was my first experience of Bhasma Aarti … I have never experienced it till now … It was very beautiful, lively and amazing … I am very happy to come here … I prayed for harmony in the nation and the world.”
One of the most prestigious rituals in the Mahakaleshwar temple, Bhasma Aarti, during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta, is performed between 3:30 to 5:30 pm.
According to the traditions of the temple, the ritual begins with the inauguration of Baba Mahakal’s doors in the early hours, followed by a sacred bath, milk, curd, ghee, sugar and a sacred mixture with panchmarit.
The deity is then decorated with cannabis and sandalwood, before the unique Bhasma Aarti and incense aarti occurs, the rhythmic beats of the drums and the echoed sound of the shells of the conch.
Devotees from all over the country visit the temple to see this divine ritual, assuming that participating in Bhasma Aarti during the holy month of Shravan fulfills blessings and desires.
The Mahakhaleshwar Temple, situated on the banks of the Shipra River in Ujjain, holds vast religious significance as one of the twelve geotorling of Lord Shiva.
