Mumbai: Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood star Govinda, is known for her outspoken and outspoken attitude. In a recent interview with Hotterfly, Sunita opened up about her views on marriage, infidelity and her dynamic relationship with Govinda, leaving everyone shocked with her candid revelations.
Reflecting on their almost 40-year-long marriage, Sunita revealed that her relationship with Govinda still doesn’t feel traditional. “I still don’t feel like we’re husband and wife,” he humorously revealed. I address him as ‘Abbe’ and he does the same with me. This is how we talk to each other. Street squabbles are part of our conversation. Sometimes I ask him, ‘Are you my husband?’ I still can’t believe it.”
Sunita’s openness about their informal and unique bond reflects the light-hearted camaraderie that keeps their relationship fresh and playful.
Speaking about infidelity, Sunita had strong words of warning for women and urged them to be aware of the realities of relationships. He said,
“With folded hands, I would like to tell women to never say that your partner is innocent (does not cheat). If he does this, it will get very bad, and no matter how hard you try to get rid of him, he will not leave her for years. Even if you leave her, that woman will not leave.”
This candid admission reflects Sunita’s realistic approach towards relationships and her understanding of the complexities involved in long-term commitments.
Sunita’s comments come in light of previous revelations about their relationship. In 1990, Govinda admitted in an interview with Stardust that he had broken his engagement with Sunita to pursue actress Neelam. He confessed, “I asked Sunita to leave me. I broke my engagement with him. And if Sunita had not called me after five days and involved me again, I might have married Neelam.
Despite these difficult moments, Sunita decided to stand by Govinda and since then the two have formed a lasting relationship. Sunita candidly admitted that their marriage has seen a lot of ups and downs over the years, saying, “When this happened, I endured it all. We have gone through many challenges in the last 40 years.” Her resilience and determination to keep her family together speaks volumes about her strength and commitment to the star.
