The New Americana singer, who is a mother of one, shared a message on her Instagram that gave a glimpse of her personal struggles. She wrote, “Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive. Long story short, I wrote an album.” The caption was accompanied by a series of videos showing her journey of fighting the disease. Although she did not reveal the exact disease, she tagged the lupus and leukemia charity, leaving fans concerned and eager for more information.
“I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to get sick. When I’m 30, I’ll be reborn,” the singer was heard saying in one clip. “I’m not going to get sick. I’m going to look super-hot and I’ll have a lot of energy. I’m just going to relive my 20s and 30s,” she said while massaging her feet on the couch.

A recent video shows her “first day” of treatment, followed by glimpses of her ups and downs.
On Monday, the singer shared the news of her new song’s release with her fans, writing, “I’m releasing the first song from my 5th album tomorrow, 6/04, at 9am PT / 12 ET. Before the first single comes out, I wanted to share this. It means a lot to me, and I love it so much. Let’s try something different this time and start with ‘The End.'”
