In an unconventional but further thinking step, Aamir Khan has decided to bypass Oats and instead it has decided to bring his latest film Sitare Zameen directly into YouTube. After its dramatic run, the film will be available to stream on the basis of pay-per-view for Part 100 starting on August 1. This decision breaks from the current trend where films usually go to streaming platforms after theaters.
Aamir’s choice has talked to the entire industry to take the spiritual successor to the star cross (2007). Reacting to the strategy of this surprise, after joining the chorus of voices, filmmaker Hansal Mehta supported the move on social media to express this step, taking steps in the right direction for Indian cinema.
Hansal Mehta praised Aamir Khan’s decision
Mehta wrote in a tweet, “Aamir Khan released Sitare land on YouTube as a payment after his dramatic run, there is no threat to anyone.
He also emphasized that this initiative should not be misunderstood as an attack on theaters or OTT platforms.
“Our ecosystem is ignored to immediate satisfaction and a handful of spacious glasses. The dramatic windows are treated as harsh commands, while the OTT has become the only post – Thari refuge. So many thoughtful films disappear. Sector.”
Aamir Khan released Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube on YouTube as a payment after his dramatic run, there is no threat to anyone. It is a smart, forward, looking step that deserves applause, not the knee criticism.
Our ecosystem is immediate satisfaction and a handful towards a handful …

Mehta said the benefits of Aamir’s decision
Mehta underlined several advantages of Aamir’s decision, giving more control to filmmakers how their content reaches the audience, to open new revenue currents beyond traditional OTT deals.
He said, “When and how a film meets its audience, a manufacturer’s choice should not be a gate,” he also indicated that the pay-per-view on accessible platforms such as YouTube can expand the number of viewers beyond the “Democratize Access” and multiplexes and curate streaming catalogs.
Hansal Mehta concluded the industry to embrace such bold experiments and concluded:
“Celebrate such experiments. They can be the bridges that allow more films to be breathed, traveling and discovered on their time, on their own terms of the audience.”
Looking at the future, Aamir Khan has also announced a plan to upload his entire Aamir Khan Productions Filmography on YouTube. Which includes acclaim titles such as Lagaan (2001), Taare Zameen Paar (2007), and People Live (2010).
