Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks headlined the BST Hyde Park Concert Series on Friday, singing hits like “Don’t Drag My Heart Around” and “Landslide.” Nicks was joined by her longtime friend Harry Styles in tribute to the late Christine McVie. Nicks, who had a longtime friendship with McVie, told the audience that she had asked Styles to join her in celebration of McVie’s 81st birthday.

Harry Styles and Stevie Nicks pay tribute to late friend
As Variety reports, the 76-year-old singer addressed the crowd in central London before welcoming Styles to the show. With a heavy heart, she said, “At the end of the show, ever since the end of last year and since Christine passed away, I’ve been wanting to say something about her, and I asked Harry to do that with me and it’s a huge thing to ask someone to sing such a heavy song about a best friend who died so suddenly and in such a tragic way.”

Commenting on the day, she said, “What I want to say to you is that Christine was Harry’s girl, she was my girl, she was your girl, and she loved you all, and today would have been her birthday.”
The Watermelon Sugar star, who accompanied her for the tribute, wore an embroidered Songbird pin, a reference to McVie’s Songbird performance.

Nicks expressed gratitude to the audience who came to the concert
Nicks explained how performing on stage has given her relief and comfort in dealing with emotionally heavy situations in her life, such as the passing of her close friend Christine. She said, “When I was little, my mom used to tell me one thing… when I would get hurt, she would say ‘Stevie when you get hurt, you always run on stage.’ And that’s what I’ve been doing since Christine passed away.”
He thanked all the audience present there for helping him overcome this grief. “You all have helped me overcome this grief. [her death] And I want you to know how much I appreciate that” and thanked Styles for performing and otherwise being there.
Christine died in December 2022 of a stroke while battling cancer.
