‘Have taken a lot of beating’: Ayushmann Khurrana talks about doing action scenes in Thamma

New Delhi: As Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma gets closer to its release date, the lead actor has revealed some interesting behind-the-scenes details of the shoot.

During a secret event held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, the Thamma team shared funny anecdotes, acting tips and more.

Speaking about the Maddock horror-comedy franchise, the lead cast opened up about the challenges they faced during the shoot, as it was a first-of-its-kind experience for them.

Khurrana revealed that the film includes many action sequences – from being attacked by a bear to being chased by a mob. Sharing a funny anecdote, he said, “I don’t know why Dinesh Vijan thought ‘let’s drink this’.” [I don’t know why Dinesh Vijan thought, ‘let’s beat him up’],

Comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath, who hosted the event, asked Khurrana, “You play a Delhi boy, a journalist and Betaal – which one was more difficult to do?” The actor replied that playing the character of Betal was the most difficult.

Khurrana said, “Preparing for Betaal was really difficult for me.” “Because I’ve never done this much action before.”

Khurrana, who plays Alok Goyal in the film, has to face many obstacles – from being thrown in the forests of Ooty to jumping off cliffs. “*I have been beaten a lot inside this picture* [I’ve been beaten up a lot in this film],” he commented. Khurrana, who shared significant screen time with Siddiqui, revealed that during one scene his co-star’s screams were so loud that he actually felt momentarily deaf. He said that shooting those intense cave scenes was particularly challenging.

The upcoming horror-comedy recently released its new dance number titled Poison Baby, featuring OG diva Malaika Arora and the film’s leading lady Rashmika Mandanna. Needless to say, the hotness levels of the track are skyrocketing. At the age of 51, fans are praising Malaika’s amazing dance moves.

Poison Baby is sung by Jasmine Sandlas, Sachin-Jigar and Divya Kumar. The song starts with Malaika Arora entering a club-like setting and taking over the stage, while Ayushmann Khurrana’s character also joins Rashmika in the video. Netizens are loving Rashmika and Malaika’s peppy antics to the energetic tunes.

Thamma is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles. Rashmika will reportedly be seen playing the role of a vampire. The film is written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew and Arun Phulara.

The film is the fifth installment of the Maddock horror-comedy universe.

Thamma is set to release on October 21, coinciding with the festive Diwali weekend in 2025.
