‘History repeated’: Anushka Sharma celebrates RCB Women’s second WPL win

New Delhi: After Royal Challengers Bangalore won their second Women’s Premier League title with a six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma joined the celebrations and described the historic achievement as a repeat win for the franchise.

On February 5, RCB defeated DC in the WPL 2026 final, successfully chasing the challenging target of 203 to win the trophy for the second time.

Soon after the win, Anushka shared a picture on Instagram of the RCB women’s team celebrating with the trophy.

Reacting to the achievement, she wrote, “RCB Women did it again. History repeated.”

Former RCB captain Virat Kohli also congratulated the WPL team on Instagram.

He wrote, “Champions again. Keeping the RCB flag flying high and something each of you can be proud of. A huge congratulations to Smriti @smriti_mandhamana and the entire team and management team for this tremendous win. You guys undoubtedly deserve it. Enjoy this moment and acknowledge the love of our amazing fans @royalchallengers.bengaluru.”

The final saw a brilliant batting performance from RCB under the leadership of captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Woll.

The pair put on a match-winning partnership of 165 runs which swung the game decisively in Bengaluru’s favour.

Mandhana, playing the captaincy innings, scored 87 runs in just 41 balls, which included 12 fours and three sixes. Voll supported him by playing a stormy innings of 79 runs in 54 balls with the help of 14 fours.

Chasing 203, RCB reached 204/4 in 19.4 overs. After Grace Harris was out early for 8, Mandhana and Voll took charge of the chase.

Although Delhi Capitals raised hopes of a comeback by taking three quick wickets in the end, Radha Yadav and Nadine de Klerk remained calm.

Radha sealed the win with back-to-back fours, remaining unbeaten on 12 as RCB crossed the line with two balls to spare.

Earlier, DC scored 203/4 in 20 overs, the highest score in a WPL final. Lizelle Lee (37 off 30) and Shafali Verma (20 off 13) provided a fast start, while a 76-run third-wicket partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues (57 off 37) and Laura Wolvaardt (44 off 35) propelled the innings. Chinelle Henry’s unbeaten inning of 35 runs in 15 balls took DC past 200 runs.

Mandhana was adjudged Player of the Match for her decisive innings. The win further cemented RCB’s recent success across all formats.
