How to make natural hair color at home using tea and coffee for a chemical free hair dye

If you are looking for a natural way to darken your hair without chemicals, tea and coffee are excellent choices. They not only give your hair a rich, natural tint, but also brightens, reduce fridge, and improve hair health. If you want to cover gray strands or simply want to increase your natural shade, this simple method is safe, inexpensive and easy to do at home.

Why use tea and coffee for hair color?

Chemical-free: Any ammonia or hard color that damages hair.

Gentle on hair: Strengthens and nourishes strands.

Temporary Tint: Ideal to try a new form without permanent change.

Budget friendly: The ingredients are easily available in your kitchen.

You need material

2 tablespoons black tea leaves (or 2 tea bags)

2 tablespoons coffee powder (immediate or land)

2 cups of water

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional, color to help the color for a long time)

A shower cap or plastic wrap

Step by step process

Step 1: Prepare coffee decoction

Boil 1 cup of water and add coffee powder.

To make a strong decoction, boil it for 5-7 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare tea decoction

In another pan, boil 1 cup of water and add tea leaves or tea bags.

Let it stand for 10 minutes until it becomes strong and dark.

Step 3: Add tea and coffee

Put both the decoction in a bowl and mix them together.

Allow the mixture to cool slightly so that it is hot but is comfortable to touch.

Step 4: Apply natural hair color

Wash your hair with a light shampoo and towel-dry.

Slowly add tea-coffee mixture over your hair, ensure that every strand is coated.

Massage it in your skull and hair for a few minutes.

Step 5: Let it set it

Cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic rap.

Leave the mixture at least 30–60 minutes (longer for dark color).

Step 6: Rinse and set color

Rinse your hair with cold water (no shampoo).

Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to your last rinse to help lock in color.

Allow your hair to dry in the air.

Tips for best results

Repeat the process 2-3 times a week for a rich, long lasting color.

The more you use it, the darker color will become.

The best works on brown, light brown or brown hair.

For additional brightness, add one teaspoon of coconut oil to the mixture before applying.

Using tea and coffee as natural hair color is a safe, inexpensive and nutritious option for chemical colors. While the results are subtle and temporary, with regular use, you can achieve a naturally rich and shiny form without damaging your hair.
