Mumbai: The prestigious Discovery section of Toronto International Film Festival 2025 to be held in September has been selected for the World Premier ‘Bayan’ starring Huma Qureshi.
Stayed by writer-director Bikas Ranjan Mishra, known for her acclaimed feature film ‘Chauranga’, the ‘statement’ is the only Indian film in the Discovery section.
The film was developed in the film Independent, Los Angeles and is produced by Shiladitya Bora of Platoon One Films, India’s Film Studio is known for several Filmfare Award winners Gath (Berlinle 2023), National Award winner Picasso (Amazon Prime’s first direct-to-digital Marathi film).
Platoon is a co-producing Platoon One Films as a co-producer with Sadiq Keshawani (Guident Films) in Switzerland along with Bain Madhu Sharma (Summit Studio), Kunal Kumar, Anuj Gupta. Huma Qureshi also serves as an executive producer in the film.
The film’s dress actors include Chandrachur Singh, Sachin Khadekar, Sand, Avizit Dutt, Vibhor Mayank, Sampa Mandal, Swati Das, Aditi Kanchan Singh and Perry Chhabra.
Filmmaker Bikas Ranjan Mishra described ‘Bayan’ as a poignant reflection of contemporary India, where a press release shared by the film’s producers is quoted in the release, “volatile and often invisible manner” power and gender intersection. ,

Qureshi, who has titled many Indian and international titles, said that it is thrilled that it will have a world premiere in the Discovery section of ‘Bean’, which has launched the career of filmmaking giants such as Christopher Nolan, Alphonso Curon and Barry Jenkins.
