New Delhi: Actress and classical dancer Sudha Chandran recently found herself at the center of online attention after a video of a religious gathering showing her in an emotional, trance-like devotional state went viral on social media.
In the clip, Sudha Chandran is seen deeply engrossed in the bhajans, dancing and moving effortlessly as she is overwhelmed with emotions during the spiritual moment. The visuals immediately drew mixed reactions online, with some users offering support, while others trolled them.

Responding to the controversy, the Naagin actress addressed the issue in an interview with Zoom, making it clear that she doesn’t feel the need to justify herself. “I am not here to justify. I have my own take on life. I have some relationships which I respect. I have nothing to do with people. Those who troll, it’s good, be happy in your life,” she said, adding that trolling doesn’t bother her. Emphasizing the positive response she has received, Sudha said that what really matters to her is the “millions of people who can connect with this moment and resonate with it”.
Reflecting on the criticism she faced throughout her life, the actress recalled how she was judged even after her life-changing accident. He shared, “In my life, I never thought about what people would say. Even after my accident, people said what a stupid thing you are doing, but when it becomes a success story, people talk about it.”
In the viral visuals, Sudha Chandran is wearing a red and white saree and a head band with ‘Jai Mata Di’ written on it. As devotional music plays, she is seen completely absorbed in the spiritual experience.

Who is Sudha Chandran?
Sudha Chandran is a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and actress known for her work in multiple languages. She rose to national prominence with the film Mayuri (1985), for which she won the National Film Award – Special Jury Award. His notable television appearances include Kahain Kisi Rose, Kalasam, Thendral, Deivam Thanda Veedu and the popular Naagin franchise.
At the age of 16, Sudha met with a serious accident which led to the amputation of her right leg due to gangrene. With the help of an artificial Jaipur foot, she made a remarkable comeback, returning to dance after two years and performing across India and many countries around the world.
Sudha Chandran married assistant director Ravi Dang in 1994 and continues to inspire many with her resilience, faith and dedication to the art.
