Singer-songwriter Zaeden aka Sahil Sharma talks about his upcoming album and his endeavour to create music that connects with people
For Gurugram-born Sahil Sharma aka Zaeden, making music is a way to express thoughts and imaginations that he would otherwise not be able to express publicly. The singer-songwriter, who is on the verge of releasing his second album, believes his music reflects his growth as an artist.
“With my first album in 2021, I was still establishing my musical identity. But this album delves deeper into my musical influences and emotions. It features a variety of musical styles and richer, more nuanced storytelling, showcasing my growth as an artist,” explains the 29-year-old, who is known for creating popular tracks such as hadn’t thought, What to do?, you should go And recently released track, drank <3,
Zaeden, whose debut single, Without youwas a “huge hit” in 2019, he said, “It was a great achievement for me to see that. I realised what an impact original music has on people, when I stepped away from being a DJ-producer… Even today, when I see people singing the lyrics verbatim, it’s incredibly touching.”
The musician has slowly carved a niche for himself, especially in the independent music industry. He believes that “in an industry that often demands conformity, authenticity is what sets an artist apart and creates a lasting impact.”
Calling social media a game-changer, he said, “I strive to connect emotionally with my fans with every song. I draw inspiration from personal experiences, feelings and stories that resonate with me. Being honest and vulnerable in my music allows me to create songs that people can connect with.”
