Mumbai: The trailer of the Vijay Varma starrer series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ has now been released for the audience. Vijay is seen playing the role of a pilot in the film. According to the makers, “This six-episode series takes you through the unsettling reality faced by passengers and crew stranded at an altitude of 30,000 feet. Filled with tension at every moment, the series follows a tireless team in India racing against time, understanding the hijackers’ horrific demands, and fighting the odds to ensure everyone’s safe return.”
On 24 December 1999, five terrorists hijacked the IC-814 just 40 minutes after it took off from Kathmandu. The plane, carrying around 180 passengers, remained hostage for seven days and flew from Kathmandu to Amritsar and then Lahore. It was refuelled in Lahore and took off for Dubai. From Dubai, it flew to Taliban-controlled Kandahar, where all the passengers were released on 31 December 2000.
It is adapted from the book “Flight Into Fear” by Captain Devi Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury.

Arvind Swami, Dia Mirza, Pooja Gor, Patralekhaa, Amrita Puri, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Anupam Tripathi, Kanwaljit Singh, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sushant Singh, Aditya Srivastava, Rajiv Thakur and Yashpal Sharma are also a part of the show.
‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ will arrive on Netflix on August 29.
