The long years of struggle of Palestinians under the imperialist occupation forces of Israel will be the focus of the package of films to be screened at the 16th edition of the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) to be held from July 26 to 31 in the capital. The package titled ‘An Ode to Resilience: Tales from Palestine’ will include short films and documentaries showcasing various stories of resistance and resilience from the war-torn land.
Goodbye TiberiusDirected by Lina Soualem, the film tells the story of four generations of Palestinian women by interweaving images from the present and the 1990s. The filmmaker, who is the daughter of renowned actor Hiam Abbas, returns to her mother’s ancestral village in Palestine after 30 years to understand the courageous decisions made by the women in her family.
heavy metalDirected by Timo Brun and Edward Knowles, the film follows the lives and dreams of young Palestinian women who challenge norms within and outside their refugee camp through weightlifting competitions.
