New Delhi: Filmmaker Nag Ashwin’s latest blockbuster film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is making waves at the box office. Apart from megastars Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan, actress Deepika Padukone is receiving a lot of praise for her performance. Also, the famous fire scene has been the most talked about thing since the film’s release.
The stunning visuals in the film have made many call her the new ‘Khaleesi’, drawing comparisons to the iconic character from ‘Game of Thrones’. In a recent interview with Zoom TV, director Nag Ashwin himself called this scene his favourite in the entire film. He said, “The visual of that scene and the way Deepika handled herself – that balance. I told her that if everything goes well, this is a poster of a film that will probably live longer than you and me.”
She explained that extensive discussions during the writing process underlined the importance of her character. “She is the most important part of the story. We discussed it a lot even when we were writing. I think the simplest answer we arrived at was, whose character do you remove and the story doesn’t exist? And that became Deepika’s character. Because if you remove her character, the story won’t exist. There is no Kalki,” she added.
