Does Leonardo DiCaprio have any connection with India? Fans were pleasantly surprised when the Hollywood star talked about her family in a new interview time magazineRevealing that her stepmother is a Sikh.
“My stepmother is a Sikh. My father is from the hippie counterculture, grew up in San Fran, Los Angeles. He was very involved with the underground art movement in Los Angeles in the ’70s,” the actor said.
His stepmother Peggy DiCaprio is an Amritdhari Sikh. Peggy DiCaprio wears a turban and is often seen in traditional Indian attire. According to reports, she had joined the sect years ago, but started wearing the turban only a few years ago. Peggy married George DiCaprio in 1995 and they also have a son, Leonardo’s half-brother, Adam Ferrer. She is George’s second wife, after he divorced Leonardo’s mother, Irmelin Indenbirken, when the actor was just a year old.

Reacting to this revelation, one fan commented, “This makes me love her even more! Meanwhile, Leo said his father once visited the set of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with his stepmother. But Leo’s co-star Brad Pitt refuses to believe that they are his parents. Leo said, “I remember when we were turning the corner of Musso and Frank onto Hollywood Boulevard. I said to Brad, ‘There’s my dad and my stepmom,’ and he says, ‘Yeah, right!’ I said no, it’s the same one! He goes, ‘Yeah! Okay!’ I said I know they look like extras in this movie but that’s what they are! They dress like this every day. It was an amazing moment!”
Leonardo was last seen in One Battle After Another. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film also stars Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infinity. The film revolves around Bob, a washed-up former revolutionary who lives off-grid with his spirited daughter Willa. Their secluded life is shattered when Bob’s enemy, known as Lockjaw, resurfaces after 16 years, causing Willa to disappear and Bob being forced to confront his violent past in order to save her. The film was released in theaters on 26 September to universal acclaim.
