Globally, non-English shows and movies are very popular among Netflix subscribers, accounting for nearly a third of the total viewership, according to the report.

Of these, Korean (with nine percent of viewers), Spanish (seven percent) and Japanese (five percent) were the most watched stories outside English.

The report highlighted notable titles such as “Dear Child” from Germany (53 million views), “Forgotten Love” from Poland (43 million views), “Pact of Silence” from Mexico (21 million views), “Masked Girl” from Korea (19 million views), “Yu Yu Hakusho” from Japan (17 million views) and “Berlin” from Spain (11 million views).

The most-watched movie title on Netflix was “Leave the World Behind,” starring Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts, with 121 million views, followed by Adam Sandler’s animated film “Leo” (96 million views).

On the series side of things, the anime-inspired live action series “One Piece” has been viewed 72 million times.

The report also highlights that fan-favorite original titles such as “Wednesday,” “Red Notice” and “Squid Game” continue to bring in millions of views in 2023, long after they premiered on Netflix.
