India’s live concert industry is no longer a niche entertainment section, and is becoming increasingly an important economic force. According to NLB services, the country’s “concert economy” is estimated to generate up to 12 million jobs by 2032, inspired by expanding demands in Tier II and III cities and increasing participation from global entertainment brands.

In recent years, live music events in India have increased in scale and frequency, attracting global acts such as coldplays, dua lipa, ed sheeran, cigarettes after sex, gans n ‘rose and more. While major metros like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru remain central, emerging cities like witnesses, Jaipur, Kochi and Chandigarh are now hosting regularly large -scale concerts.

This geographical change is helping to decentralize employment opportunities. Each major concert can create between 15,000 to 20,000 temporary jobs in logistics, security, hospitality, artist contact, digital media and event technology. In some cases, about 10–15% of these temporary roles are converted into full-time employment, especially in technical fields such as production, lighting and audio engineering.

NLB Services CEO Sachin Alug said that the region has taken a step beyond the seasonal show to become a “year -long economic engine”, especially calling for immediate investment in skill development in small cities. He said, “The economy of the concert is not only about entertainment – it is about employment generation, formality and youth empowerment.”

The economic wave effect of major events is already clear. The 2024 Ahmedabad concert of Coldplay allegedly added ₹ 641 crore to the local economy, including ₹ 72 crore in GST revenue. Hotels saw an increase in occupancy, flights were overbook, and F&B outlets reported record sales.

Platforms like Bookmyshow Live have played a central role in shaping India’s concert landscape. Naman Pugalia, Chief Business Officer for Live events, said that concerts now work “on an international scale”, cited incidents such as Lolapluja India and Bandeland, which have created more than 8,500 jobs every 8,500 jobs.

Given further, the region has been designed to become an industry of ₹ 15,000 crore, although its continuous growth depends on infrastructure, state support and disassemune efforts. Meanwhile, social media and The Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) are also demanding tickets, fans are eager to participate in global acts that may not return soon.

With 2025 lineups characterized by Travis Scott, Enrique Iglessius, and more, India’s concert economy shows no signal at a slow pace. Industry stakeholders believe that this pace may lead to long -term changes of entertainment, tourism and employment interaction in the country.
