India’s oldest LGBTQ film Badnaam Basti set for screening at Melbourne Film Festival

New Delhi: The Indian Film Festival in Melbourne will include the restored version of India’s first LGBTQ film “Badam Basti” for the night of its special pride ceremony next month.

The film was released in 1971 and directed by Prem Kapoor. Nitin Sethi, Amar Kakkar, and Nandita Thakur starrer follows a driver Dasyu, named Saranam, which protects Bansuri from the attack. Later he hired temple activist Shivraj, making a mutual relationship between the three.
