CITOPIR originated from a chance meeting in 2017. Introduced by Asian beatboxer Mike Lee, Manmeet Kaur and Flavian discovered a shared appreciation for hip-hop, graffiti and a passion for exploring natural landscapes. Their rapport as artists evolved into a collaborative journey that merges their individual styles into a cohesive audio-visual experience. Flavien’s mastery of beats and soundscapes seamlessly combines with Kaur’s sharp lyricism and dynamic stage presence, creating a performance that speaks to both the head and the heart.
On January 10, the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center (NMACC) will host the first audio-visual performance of the Indo-French duo. Scheduled at The Cube, the show promises to be more than entertainment – it’s a call to action on the themes of inclusivity, social change and environmental awareness.
At the core of CITOPIR’s work is the belief that art can catalyze social change. Through projects like Reverse, an interdisciplinary audio-visual workshop for youth and adults, which they launched in the country in 2023, the pair connects with diverse communities to co-create music and poetry. These interactions directly influence his lyrics and visuals, filling his art with authenticity and lived-in experiences. his ep wabi sabiInspired by the Japanese philosophy of embracing imperfection, challenges societal prejudices and advocates deep acceptance of self and others.
“Our art is an extension of the world we imagine – a place of empathy, respect and collective growth,” says Manmeet. “We hope to inspire audiences to see inclusivity not as an abstract ideal but as a practical way of life.”
Linking art and environmental awareness
In an age of environmental urgency, CITOPIR tackles ecological topics with simplicity. Workshops are a cornerstone of his practice, encouraging participants to create music with discarded objects and elements from nature. These activities are combined with clean-up campaigns and graffiti projects using eco-friendly materials like terracotta. chose (lime plaster), underscoring their commitment to sustainable practices.

“The challenge is in making these important issues attractive,” Flavien says. “We want audiences to connect emotionally with the idea of environmental stewardship while enjoying a vibrant and thought-provoking performance.”
For the NMACC debut, the duo weaved the results of these projects into their setlist, complemented by visuals highlighting the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
A multi-sensory experience
Blending music, lyrics and visuals into a seamless narrative is no easy feat. For this show, CITOPIR pushed creative and technical boundaries, integrating music videos, documentaries and live sequences through state-of-the-art software. The performance will include translated French lyrics for accessibility, ensuring the message resonates across linguistic barriers.
“We’re not here to be spoon-fed,” says Kaur. “Our visuals and music support the themes of each song, inviting the audience to reflect and interpret in their own way. “
CITOPIR’s launch promises to give audiences much more than just entertainment – it aims to provoke thought and inspire action. “We hope to break down prejudices and awaken a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of life,” the pair reflect. “As human beings, we are all headed towards the same future. “Through our art we hope to influence choices today for a better tomorrow.”
