Inside Out 2 crossed the $100 million mark in its second week

The film bombed at the box office in its second week of release and bookings dropped by 35%. The animated film has performed better than its previous week’s performance, which happened in 2015. The only films to surpass their previous released installments are Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War and Black Panther, all billion dollar club films. Ticket sales of the film’s sequel earned $100 million in the film’s second week since release. In just a week and a half, the film has set a new record for the biggest grossing animated film.

According to the AP, the film is expected to easily cross the $1 billion mark within a week, making it the first film to do so since the release of Barbie last year.

Pixar’s latest masterpiece is like a breath of fresh air in a dull box office season

Directed by Kelsey Maine, the film had a tremendous opening at the box office, surprising Hollywood as the film had been consistently performing poorly at the box office for the past few weeks. This Pixar family film has also brought excitement to the theatres with its great opening. The film increased the number of audiences in the theatres with its release and according to Comscore report, within a few weeks, the year’s collection has decreased from 23.8% to 21%. With upcoming films like A Quiet Place: Day One, Despicable Me 4 and Deadpool & Wolverine, it is expected that this momentum will continue in the theatres as well.
