INdian cinema has seen many women technicians, which challenge gender prejudices in the film industry. These technicians in the fields of editing, cinematography and production design have not only inspired many women to make a career in films, but have also contributed significantly to many blockbusters. Namrata Rao, who directed the recent major video documentary ‘Angry Young Man’ on the famous writer duo Salim-Javed, is a acclaimed editor in Bollywood. His popular films include his national award -winning work ‘Kahani’, ‘Band Baja Batarat’ and ‘Ishaqiya’.

Juhi Chaturvedi, an experienced screenplay writer, has been a backbone of many acclaimed Hindi films. A regular associate with director Shujit Sirkar (‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Piku’ and ‘October’), Juhi is leading a packet of talented women who break the script in the Hindi film industry.
After dubbing music videos, short films and documentaries, Preetha Jayaraman has developed as one of the subsequent demands of cinematographers in Indian cinema. He has mainly worked in Kannada films (‘Ogarne’, ‘Badwa Raskal’), and shooting Tamil films like ‘Abhayam Nanam’, ‘He Hey Sinamika’ and ‘Vanam Kottam’.

Roopa Rao’s first feature ‘Gantumote’ was a upcoming age drama of a teenage girl. The film emerged as a rare product in modern Kannada cinema as it presented a story through a girl’s eyes, hardly a story in the industry in recent decades. One of some female directors in Kannada, Rupa continues to make independent films champions.
Monica Nigotre, with her husband Ramakrishna, is a strength to reconsider the Telugu film industry. He has handled the production design in Magnum Opus like ‘Rangasthalam’ and ‘Pushpa 2’. He was praised for authentic entertainment of a begon period.

An FTII student, she served several film festivals such as Kerala’s International Film Festival (IFFK-Preview Committee), and National Film Awards (2010). She is known for her path-breaking experiments in cinematography.

Pallavi Singh, a popular stylist, has worked for Tamil superstar Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and popular music composer Anirudh Ravichender. Late, he has prepared costumes for Rajinikanth in ‘jailer’, Vijay in ‘Leo’, ‘Beast’ and ‘Master’, and Nani in ‘Ante Sunderiniki’.
Cinematographer Yamini Yagamurthy is known for her innovative style. He received a lot of praise for a lively camera work in his most recent work ‘Raghu Thiha’, a period Tamil Comedy Drama. Yamini has also worked in complex plays like ‘Sani Kayadham’ and ‘Silu Karpatti’ in Tamil.
