interstellar imax re-release
Interstellar, starring Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey, was previously re-released in select locations on December 6. The limited re-release proved to be a hit and grossed $4.5 million on 166 screens. Given the success and love of the film, it will now be available in AMC theaters in Grover City and Easton.
According to Variety, Interstellar tickets have sold for up to $215. The film sold out its initial screening on 166 screens across the US, leading the producers to schedule more screenings. IMAX’s 70mm presentations sold out in minutes and those 10 screens alone averaged more than 70,000 per theater.
Interstellar re-release in India
Interstellar missed its IMAX re-release in India as Pushpa 2 took over all IMAX screens in the country in December. However, Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s film has brought audiences to the theaters in large numbers and is dominating the box office. However, some Nolan fans are upset with Interstellar not being re-released in India due to Pushpa 2 The Rule. New reports suggest that the acclaimed science fiction drama will now be re-released in India in early 2025.
Speaking about the success of the re-release of Interstellar 10 years later, Christopher Nolan told the Associated Press, “I’m very satisfied with the response. It’s really thrilling when people respond to your work any time. But 10 years later, whether new audiences are coming and experiencing it in the same way that we originally intended to on big IMAX screens and especially on those IMAX film prints, it’s really rewarding to see. Live a life that continues.”
