Maranamas Co-written by debut director Shivprasad and actor Siju Sunny, the characters have fun with their own maximum crew and over-the-top exercised situations. The film is cleverly written, once a funny and funny without crossing the line in the slapstick area. Sivaprasad is known for its brand Quirky TVCs, especially the characteristics of actor Shakeela for Netflix series, promo, sex educationStarring by Basil Joseph, and Suresh Krishna, Prashant Alexander and Siju Sunny, the film recently dropped on Soniliv. Here he talks about making films, making characters and their plans.
How did Siju Sunny cooperate on the script?
We have known each other for a long time and we have worked together. We talk about stories and scripts, it was born from a main idea suggested by a cinema. I liked the original idea and realized that it could be developed in a line for script and a film, of course.
What was the idea? Was this serial killer thread?
No, it’s not that. But what happens when a girl uses black pepper spray against a man that bothers her in the bus and kills her with her. We populated it with a group of ‘characters’ with our own stories and created situations around them.
Did the script already had lines and conditions or were they improving on the set? Some lines are already written in a sound manner.
Everything is in the script – conditions and dialogues. But then the actors have improved on the set, brought to their personal taste.
The casting is at the point. Did you have an actor or actor when you were scripting?
I cannot say that we had a special actor in our mind; Casting was not decided initially. Rajesh Madhavan was the only actor we had earlier decided. We discovered our options and later decided on the actors. I am very interested in the casting aspect, I did for casting Meenal MuraliI was an assistant director for the film. Casting is an interesting process for actors, if you get it then I believe [casting] Then half the work is done. The actors have to fit the characters, it has to support it and if people can connect both then it is perfect. For example, Babu Antony had to ensure the character of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ajay Ramachandran. No one else is able to close it, especially not a comedian. I have worked with Tulsi, Rajesh [Madhavan] There is a friend and I have also worked with him.

Basil’s look in the film is very different which we have ever seen her. How did that come about?
We worked on the look of all the characters, we wanted Basil to be very different how we have seen her. So this is a bit of Jean Z, cross references with other films etc.
As a manufacturer, how did Tovino Thomas come in the photo?
(Laughing) It was really a 4am idea! Once a line was ready, for some reason I thought of Towino. They have a great understanding, for one. This, perhaps, why I thought about him. I felt that ‘maybe he plans to make a film’. I recited him, he said he would come back to me … he liked what he read and he was inside. Everything happened very soon.
Did you expect this reaction of the film, which we usually see?
The film is told from an experimental point of view – as is story and treatment. But I was confident. My short films and advertising films are like this – bizarre characters and bizarre situations – they have received approval. Like advertisement for Netflix [a sketch with actor Shakeela promoting the final season of the series Sex Education] Which was very different, and it did well. So I was confident that the film would work.
This is done and dust becomes. What next?
Writing is on … I want to try many different styles. Let’s see…
