Is Ranveer Singh’s Dunderdhaar related to Vicky Kaushal’s Uri? fans spot easter egg

New Delhi: Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is currently running successfully in theatres. The espionage drama revolves around Ranveer Singh’s character, who plays an Indian spy who infiltrates a terror network in Pakistan. As the film continues to dominate online conversations, fan theories have started linking Dhurandhar to Dhar’s 2019 film Uri: The Surgical Strike.

Ranveer Singh plays Hamza, an undercover operative selected by Indian intelligence chief Ajay Sanyal (R. Madhavan) to infiltrate Rehman dacoit’s (Akshaye Khanna) gang in Lyari.

Is Dhurandhar related to Uri?

The film eventually reveals a major twist: Ranveer’s character, Hamza, is actually a criminal named Jaskirat Singh Rangi, chosen by Ajay Sanyal to lead the covert operation.

Dialogues between Vicky Kaushal and Kirti Kulhari’s characters in Uri reveal that their character’s husband was Captain Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who was killed during an operation. After the release of Dhurandhar, the scene with Kirti Kulhari has now gone viral.

In that scene, she reveals the name of her late husband: Jaskirat Singh Rangi of the Punjab Regiment, who lost his life during the Nowshera sector attack.

netizens reaction

Fans are busy linking the two characters and claiming that the choice of name cannot be a coincidence.

A fan declared, “Dhurandhar and Uri are connected, with Ranveer Singh’s character Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Hamza) introduced in Uri. He is an Indian spy who infiltrates Pakistan’s underworld to dismantle the gangster-ISI nexus.”

Another said, “This can’t be a coincidence. Both films are directed by Aditya Dhar.”

One user replied, “But at the end of the movie Dhurandhar, he was called a criminal, not from any regiment.”

A third said, “The operation was about sending bigots from jail to missions in Pakistan. They may have kept the same name coincidentally, but there is no connection.”

Another comment dismissed the theory, saying, “Uri takes place around the surgical strikes in 2016, while Dhurandhar begins in 2002. Different timelines – it can’t be the same character.”

Although this is probably a coincidence and there was no intention to directly connect the characters, the real truth about Ranveer’s character may be revealed in Dhurandhar 2, which is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026.

Dhurandhar also stars Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna and R. Madhavan in lead roles.
