It was a film that went against the trend …: How did Neeraj Pandey shape his journey on Wednesday

New Delhi: The action-thriller ‘A Wednesday’ released in 2008, continues to attack a raga with the audience even after more than a decade of its release. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film made her debut as a filmmaker and became a strong and meaningful film that won both the award and the heart.

Now, years later, Neeraj Pandey has opened up how he shaped his journey as a storyteller on Wednesday, discussed that effect on him and it felt him more “responsible” and “accountable” in his future projects.

Talking to ANI, the filmmaker shared that there was a project that was a “against the trend”-the style, casting, or theme. However, love and support from the audience gave him the confidence to rely on his stories.

“It’s very interesting that you are asking this question because it has been a lot of years, and there is not a single press conference in my life, where you know, it does not go back to my first film. And the way I can tell how it gives me shape, when you are making your first film, when you are making your first film, you are doing this with actors in which you believe.

“But when you see that an audience is waiting to watch that particular film-and is not only watching, but loves it and encourages you with a lot of love and blessings-it just goes to show that you feel more responsible as a narrator. You try to be more accountable with every story, every story, and this way was the way that is the path with a Wednesday, he says that he said, he says that, he says that, he said that, he said that, he says that, he said that, he said that, he says that, he said that, he says that, he says that, he said that, he says that, he said that, he said that, he says that, he said that, he said that, he says that, he said that, he said that, he said that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that, he says that he said,”

‘A Wednesday’ starred Anupam Kher as Police Commissioner on the verge of retirement. The plot follows his stressful encounter with a common man played by Naseeruddin Shah, who holds the city hostage to get justice in its own way.

The film was widely critical praise and was produced by Ronnie Screwal, Shital Bhatia and Anjum Rizvi. It won several awards and is often praised for its tight script, strong performance and relevant messages.
