Washington: The Amazonian warrior princess is ready to return to the big screen as DC Studio co-chairman James Gun has revealed that the film is currently being written a new ‘Wonder Woman’.
According to the deadline, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn shared that the project is running, although she has not yet played the role of Princess Diana.
The new ‘Wonder Woman’ film is an important departure from the previous DC Expended Universe (DCEU) films, including the canceled Wonder Woman 3, which was initially declared in 2020.
Gunn insisted that the new project is a separate unit from HBO Max Series Paradise Lost, set on Wonder Woman’s Home Planet, Themicira.
“We are working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is just being written,” Gunn confirmed, as is done by the deadline.
Gunn highlighted the importance of ‘Wonder Woman’, as well as the main characters in DC Universe, with ‘Superman’, ‘Batman’ and ‘Supergirl’.
“I think it’s accurate, in fact … those four characters are incredibly important to us,” they shared, as is done by the deadline.
Gunn said that while some of these characters have progressed, others are still in development.
Paradise Lost HBO Max Series, announced in early 2023, is described as ‘Game of Thrones’ style epic set on Themyscira.
Although the project “moves at a slow pace, it is moving forward,” according to Gunn, no authors have been announced yet.
According to the deadline, the film will not feature Gal Gadot in the film, who first played the role in DCEU.
In August 2023, Gadot revealed that he met Gunn and Peter Safran, co-head and CEO of DC Studio, who assured him that he would develop ‘Wonder Woman 3’ with him.
However, it appears that those schemes have changed under the new DC leadership.
The 2017 ‘Wonder Woman’, directed by Patty Jenkins, was an important and commercial success, allegedly grossed over USD 822 million worldwide.
The sequel released in 2020, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ faced challenges due to epidemic and released simultaneously on HBO Max.
