Jamie Foxx shares the exact reason he was hospitalized: ‘I had to…’

Jamie Foxx, who was filming Back in Action in Atlanta in April 2023, revealed for the first time that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke, an ordeal that left him hospitalized and recovering from his Had to struggle for life.

In her Netflix special, What Had Happened, released on December 10, Fox explained, “I was having a really bad headache, and I asked my guy for an aspirin,” people magazine,

“I quickly realized that when you have a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what to do. I passed out before I could take the aspirin. I don’t remember 20 days,” he says, sharing the events of April 11.

Fox’s sister and Piedmont Hospital saved his life.

Fox’s friends immediately took her to a doctor who administered a cortisone shot for the pain. However, his sister, Deidra Dixon, recognized something was seriously wrong and took him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

“You will save my life at Piedmont Hospital, only 400 yards from here. They put me back together again. She didn’t know anything about Piedmont Hospital, but she had an idea there were some angels there,” Fox shared with viewers.

Fox shares near-death experience

The Day Shift star detailed the serious condition he told his sister about when they arrived at the hospital. “There is bleeding in her brain which has caused a stroke,” doctors warned her, he said. “‘If I don’t get into his head right now, we’ll lose him.'” Deidra knelt outside the operating room and prayed throughout the procedure.

“We didn’t know where it was coming from, but he had a stroke. He may be able to make a full recovery, but it will be the worst year of his life, Fox shared.

Fox spent 20 days unconscious and woke up on May 4 to find himself in a wheelchair. “I couldn’t walk in a wheelchair, and I thought, ‘Why am I in a wheelchair at all?’ I’m just coming out of it,'” he recalled.

Fox kept his situation private at the time, later thanking his family and fans for their support in July 2023.
