Corinne Foxx recently revealed the details of her engagement to Joe Hooten and how the moment became a family affair. Hooten, now her husband, made sure to include Corinne’s father, Jamie Foxx, in the proposal despite the actor’s health challenges at the time.
The ‘Day Shift’ actor was recovering at a physical rehabilitation center following a serious medical complication in early 2023. Corinne told Vogue how the proposal was originally planned to take place in Ireland. However, when Jamie is unexpectedly hospitalized in April 2023, plans have to change.
Hooten accommodated and made sure Jamie could still be there via FaceTime. “She…planned a very special engagement party in my father’s room in Chicago,” Corinne told Vogue. He further added that it was a “small celebration, but it was very intimate and meaningful.”

Corinne Foxx clarifies father Jamie Foxx’s health rumors
Corinne initially informed her social media followers that her father had experienced a “medical complication” and was on the road to recovery. In the weeks that followed, rumors spread about Jamie’s condition, but Corinne clarified that he had already been in and out of the hospital for some time.
Corinne recounted how Hooten proposed in a Chicago park at the same time he originally intended, and Corinne’s mother, Connie Cline, and her aunt witnessed the moment. She added, “I didn’t know Joe had changed his plans so he could propose on the same day – just in a different city.”
The engagement took place in September 2023 in a beautiful wedding at Jamie’s home in Los Angeles, with the actor walking Corinne down the aisle.
The couple exchanged vows to the tune of Ray Charles’s “Georgia on My Mind,” a moment that Korine said left “not a dry eye in the house.”

Jamie, who was excited for the moment long before it arrived, previously expressed her feelings when Corinne announced their engagement in December 2023. “@joe.hooten When you whispered to me a while ago that you were going to ask my baby girl to marry you, there were tears of joy in my soul… I can’t wait to take you to that island [sic]“the Oscar winner wrote.
